🌴 Island of Brač offers a unique blend of nature, culture, and authentic island life. It is well-connected to the mainland by Jadrolinija ferry. 🎟️ The nearest ticket office is located at the beginning of the ferry port, just a 10-minute walk away.
🏝️ Supetar is a small town, ideal for a half-day or afternoon trip, but the entire island is waiting to be explored! 🚗 The best way to do so is by renting a car in Supetar. Here’s a list of the most important landmarks to help you plan your visit efficiently:
📍 Top Attractions on Brač
1️⃣ Postira – A charming fishing village with beautiful beaches in scenic coves. 🏖️ The most famous is Lovrečina Beach, though it’s a bit harder to reach. Postira is also a leader in sardine production—try premium Adriatic Queen products like sardines, mackerel, and tuna. 🐟
2️⃣ Pučišća – A picturesque seaside village with an authentic island atmosphere and a center of stone masonry. 🏛️ The famous ‘white stone’ quarried here was used for building the White House in Washington, Diocletian’s Palace, and parliaments in Vienna and Budapest. Visit the Stonemasonry School, the only one of its kind in this part of Europe. ⛏️
3️⃣ Škrip – The oldest settlement on Brač, over 3,000 years old, set in a hilly landscape. ⛰️ Perfect for discovering local traditions and island heritage. Visit the Museum of Olive Oil, 🫒 where you can taste homemade products—olive oil, olive pâté, salted anchovies, capers, sheep cheese, fig marmalade, local wine, and seasonal specialties. 🍷
4️⃣ Dol – A hidden gem nestled in a deep valley, just 2 km from Postira. 🏡 This small stone village is a testament to Dalmatian tradition and architecture. Surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, it is known for handcrafted olive oil and premium wines. 🏺 We highly recommend Konoba Dol for an authentic dining experience. 🍽️ Note: The road to the restaurant is narrow and steep, but the location is worth it!
5️⃣ Blaca Hermitage – An impressive 16th-century monastery, built beneath a massive rock formation, once the island’s most important economic center producing olive oil, wine, and honey. 🍯 It was also an astronomical research hub! 🔭
➡️ How to get there? 🚗 Drive from Donji Humac to the abandoned village of Dragovode. From there, a rough gravel road (4.4 km) leads to a parking area. The remaining 2.5 km must be done on foot (about 30 min). 🥾 The trail is rocky with little shade, so wear good walking shoes and bring water. 🏜️ Alternatively, you can reach it by boat from Bol, but the hike from the shore is also challenging.
6️⃣ Vidova Gora – The highest peak on the island (778 m), offering a spectacular panoramic view of Zlatni Rat, Bol, and neighboring islands. 🌅 Located just 6 km (10 min drive) from the main road. 🚙 You can book a guided tour covering Vidova Gora and Blaca, with departures from both Supetar and Bol.
7️⃣ Bol – The most famous town on Brač! 🏖️ Its popularity comes mainly from the iconic Zlatni Rat Beach (Golden Horn). This unique beach extends 500 meters into the sea, constantly changing shape due to winds and currents. 🌊
☀️ Tip: While Zlatni Rat is the most famous, the entire southern coastline is full of stunning pebble beaches! 🚴 If you want to escape the crowds, take a bike ride to the village of Murvica (6 km of easy MTB route) and descend to a hidden beach. You can continue biking through pine forests and olive groves towards Farska Bay (5 km from Murvica). 🌿 The road is in excellent condition with mild inclines and fantastic views of secluded coves.
🍷 Don’t miss a visit to one of Croatia’s most beautiful wineries – ‘Stina’! Located in an old stone building in the center of Bol, this winery has been producing wine for over 100 years. Open for visitors, you can taste award-winning wines such as Pošip Stina, Stina Prošek, and Stina Plavac Mali. 🏺
🚢 How to get to Bol? A catamaran from Split takes 1 hour. ⏳
